FAQ for finance professionals

Common questions from people who trade for a living — or whose compliance departments want answers before they do.

I work at a bank / fund / broker. Can I trade?+

Usually yes, subject to your employer's personal-trading policy. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated futures products, so most compliance departments treat them like other listed derivatives. We can provide duplicate statements to your compliance team on request.

Are event contracts securities?+

No. They are futures contracts traded on a Designated Contract Market regulated by the CFTC, not the SEC. They do not confer ownership in any company or asset.

Can my firm get duplicate confirms and statements?+

Yes. Members can authorize automatic delivery of trade confirmations and monthly statements to a compliance email address from account settings.

Do you support entity accounts?+

Yes — LLCs, funds and corporates can onboard through institutional KYB, with sub-accounts and consolidated reporting. See the Institutions page for the process.

How are profits taxed?+

Positions are generally reported on a 1099 and may be eligible for Section 1256 60/40 treatment, but tax treatment depends on your situation — consult your advisor. We are not a tax service.

Is there a restricted list for regulators?+

Employees of agencies whose data settles specific markets are prohibited from trading those markets. See Trading Prohibitions for the full policy.
